While Ben & I were picking up my new 5D markII today at Precision Camera, we noticed a sign reading that Elliott Erwitt would be giving a lecture at the Blanton Museum of Art. I remember looking at Erwitt’s work when I was in high school and it was truly inspiring. He started as a commercial photographer and along his way would take amazing black and white fine art photographs. He just seemed to capture the most perfect of moments and I can relate when I try to shoot weddings. During his lecture he briefly explained some of his most famous photos and answered questions, he is quite amusing. I also ran into my favorite college photography teacher, Nine Francois, which was a treat and reminded me of how much I kind of miss school.
Here is one of his more famous photos.

After the lecture Ben & I decided to wander around downtown area to test out my new camera and to remind ourselves why we got into shooting weddings in the first place… because we love ART and we love to CAPTURE MOMENTS. I will be going to more of these art lectures in the future, they are refreshing.
