Frequently Asked Questions-
Listed below are some of my most frequently asked questions about my Austin wedding photography services.
Can I get prints made anywhere I want with the DVD?
Of course! The images are for YOU! With the disc I will provide a list of labs I recommend.
However, for larger prints I recommend ordering through my online gallery for a high quality luster archival print from a professional lab.
Are all the photos on the DVD edited?
Each and every photo has a standard edit for color, exposure, and contrast, which is exactly what you see on my blog. Extra edits may be applied for album & print orders upon request.
If my package includes the DVD of high-resolution images, why should I buy prints from you?
In the days of film each print was meticulously worked on and perfected in the darkroom.
I think of digital prints the same way, often times pictures need that extra step beyond proof editing to maximize their full potential. Places like Target and Walmart will print on paper with machines that aren’t nearly as high quality as the lab I order from and most times will often ‘color correct’ the images- 99.9% of the time make them WORSE.
Do you give us copyrights to the pictures?
You are given a license to print the images for yourself, friends and family.
You cannot sell, edit, or advertise with the photo. Along with the full resolution DVD
comes a web file DVD that can be used to put images online or send them in e-mails. If you would like to use the images for other the reasons I do allow, please contact me and I will be happy to figure something out with you.
I don’t need 6 hours, can you drop the price for less hours?
No, simply because I don’t believe the story of a wedding can be told in less time. I often recommend 8.
We don’t need the engagement session, is there a discount for that?
I prefer to be a part of at least one portrait session with the bride and or groom because I feel there it is an important step in getting to know me as a photographer and me getting to know you as clients. It helps the wedding day run smoother because of your comfort with me. Although, I understand that it may not be possible to always do the portrait session due to clients living in another state or country and in that case I would at least like to schedule a meeting a week or so before the wedding.
Do I have to buy an album now or can I buy it later?
Either!
How many photographs do you take at a wedding?
This number can vary anywhere from 1000-4000, but during the editing process I narrow down this number to something between 500-900. Because there are 2 photographers at every wedding there are duplicate photos, blinks, blurs, and a few under exposures. In the creative process we get rid of photos making sure not to delete any important moments we think the bride and groom would deem important. That’s the beauty of digital photography, we can take as many pictures as we want to ensure that we get the perfect one. I would not give away raw files but I assure you that there is nothing you would miss.
When you photograph a wedding, how long do you need for the formal photographs?
Please plan on taking photographs for a minimum of 1 hour, formal photos often take between 20-40 minutes and I like to spend the extra time alone with the bride and groom. Note* that if you are not planning on seeing each other before the ceremony and would like to take some of the formals before hand, this saves very little time.
What if things run later than planned, will you stay?
I understand when people get behind, I will stay 30 minutes longer than planned without charging, any time after that will be extra cost at my normal hourly rate. However this extra time may not be scheduled before hand.
Ok, I’m ready to book, now what?
For me to save the date, I require a non-refundable deposit of $1000 and a signed contract. The rest of the balance is due 2 weeks prior to the wedding. After I send you the proposal, everything is done online through the super easy program ShootQ, in which you can review the contract, sign it, as well as pay.
Do you accept credit cards?
I do! Payments can be paid through Google checkout.
What if something happens and you can’t be at my wedding for some reason?
I make every effort and precaution to be early to every wedding. If something tragic were to happen prior to the wedding day I have a network of Professional Photographers who I can
contact to cover your event. You can also rest assured that at the very least my 2nd shooter would be able to shoot the wedding. You can feel comfortable knowing that you are in good hands.
Do you travel?
Yes! I love to travel! I apply no extra charge for Austin/San Antonio but anywhere beyond, expenses do apply- ask me about destination weddings as well!
